On the 24th of December the traditional Procession of the Traveling Christ Child is held. A procession like no other, you have to attend this event. It is a reflection of the Ecuadorian culture joined together with religion.

In this Procession, thousands of children dress up in special outfits and travel on ornamented floats or horses decorated with chocolates, sweets and Christmas bread, singing Christmas carols and chants.

Without a doubt, you can capture the best images during this event, for it is unique.

On the 31st of December you will observe the burning of the old year. This is an Ecuadorian tradition which organizes the farewell of the year. All the bad and good activities must be gone. A mannequin made from combustible material is filled with fireworks. The skies are filled with a beautiful display of light, color, and pleasure.

Año Viejo (New Year’s Eve) is a particular happy festivity, where family and friends dress up and reflect on the old year, and share words of advice for the New Year.
